Better news!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and support.
Okay, after a pretty horrible week of stress and worry, I got a little sunshine yesterday when the scan was all clear - JBB is going great guns and put on a show for my sister who came with me to the scan yesterday as he was moving around wriggling like no tomorrow. The cervix has also stayed the same - cue big sigh of relief!!
The cramps have been a little better yesterday and today which I am extremly thankful for and am hoping that they go further away again in the next couple of days. We are off to the OB again this week so I think I will discuss the cramps with him further to make sure that all is okay.
On the home front, we have just had gas ducted heating put in - hurrah!!! Last year we went through the whole winter without proper heating, all we had was a little electric heater and I had an electric throw rug that I had on me when on the couch though sometimes I was so cold, I hugged the little electric heater outright. Now, we don't really have very cold winters in Melbourne, it never snows here and compared to may places it is pretty mild but you do need heating so I am very, very happy to have the central heating in and ready for JBB - there was no way we could go without proper heating once his precious little bottom comes along!!
The weather has turned cooler now and I am definitely loving it, though poor old JourneyMan sat through the footy last night in the pouring rain. We love rain here in Melbourne - we have been in drought so long, we relish every drop that comes our way (though I don't think that there was much relishing last night for JM!!) - JourneyDog and I were tucked up on the couch in the toasty warmth of our new heater. It is absolutely perfect weather today, my favourite time of year, quite warm and sunny but cool at night, lovely.
I am trying very hard to focus on the positives right now!! Happy weekend everyone!

OB appointment...

Today was the 20 week OB appointment and thankfully, it looks like everything is going very well - yay!! I spoke to him about the cramps that I had been having and he believes that it is because my small uterus is stretching, stretching, stretching. He has given me a prescription for progesterone pessaries (more of the same Crinone action but messier apparently, is that even possible - booooo - I had 8 blissful weeks of not having to insert any medications - oh well, onwards and upwards!) and he said that it should help to loosen up the uterus and ease the cramps, hurrah!
He also said that the next weeks are critical as JBB is growing rapidly and it is now that he will start to put pressure on the cervix. At the moment, my cervix is measuring at 34mm and the OB said that he likes anything over 30. He said that if it gets 28 we will have to change things up and that if it goes to 25, he will have to start thinking about how to stop labour - I tell you that freaked me out quite a bit but at least everything is totally monitored at the moment so we will know if anything is going pear shaped and can do something about it.
The other thing on my mind at the moment is JourneyMan's job, he still doesn't have one and he is finishing at his work at the end of April - not too long away. I have been trying not to worry and hope heartily that everything will fall into place but the worry is now creeping in. Can everyone send some positive employment vibes his way?
We have the big 20 week anatomy scan on Friday so I am looking forward to that and hoping that all is looking wonderful with JBB.
Thanks to you guys for your thoughts on JourneyDog - it made me feel better and I know that there will be an adjustment when JBB comes home but he will always have a very special place in my heart. We gave him a bath this afternoon so he is back to his fluffy clean self but has had to be supervised when he ventures outside because we are doing the garden and he has taken to rolling in the freshly turn earth - the little rascal!

My happiness is slowly creeping back!

Words from a song from one of my favourite bands (Powderfinger - an Aussie band).

I am feeling alot better now. JourneyMan and I are back being happy again and have made some decisions on our house. Hurrah, we have decided to renovate before the baby comes!! It is going to be a pretty big project but I am SOOOOO excited about it. On Wednesday I was driving home from work sobbing to my mum that I will go crazy with our 1971 kitchen that we have in our unit - I spoke to JourneyMan that night and we decided.

We had not completed the renovations previously because of the money that we needed to save for IF treatments - thankfully we are having a bit of a break from that so we are able to do it. We also had great news on our tax returns so things are looking up money-wise - yay. It has taken a huge amount of pressure off us though we still have quite a bit of saving to do.

I had my first of the weekly scans to check my cervix on Friday and I got some gorgeous 2d and 4d pics of the baby - hurrah. It is back to the old vaginal scan though - I thought that I had left those behind me for the moment but they are back and they are weekly. I was in there so long my legs were shaking. At one point the sonographer (I still haven't looked up whether that's the right word yet - but I will soon!) paged the doctor and I am pretty sure I went white with fear. It turns out that she just wanted to determine with the doctor whether I have one or two cervixes - I wanted to give her a punch for scaring the hell out of me.

They talked about it for awhile (all the while wanding away in my delicate regions) but after awhile I have said, 'yes, i have been told that I have two, then one, then two then one again so it would not surprise me, however, after 3 transfers, a dye test and two operations, no-one has ever been able to confirm where the opening for the second one is' - the doctor's comment - 'well it is just interesting' to which I replied 'yes, everyone finds it interesting'. I was getting pretty impatient after I have had many similar reactions in many, many scans. Yes, I get it, I'm 'special' - nuff said for crying out loud.

Some good news in the scan though - the baby has two kidney's (whoo hoo, this is a big deal as I only have one!) and wait for it people...............................it's a BOY!!!! I have to admit, there was the smallest moment of hesitation because I wanted a girl and was sure that the baby was a girl but then came unbelievable happiness and I floated all the way home. Once I got home, I quickly went up to the shops and found a blue teddy with the boys name, that we have had picked out for years, amazingly they had one there and when JourneyMan got home, I showed it to him as he walked in the door and said you are having a son! Well, he has been walking around like a peacock since - bless him!!

Oh and of course the other good news is that the cervix is fine - she said 'beautiful' in fact which was nice!

So, I haven't updated since then because JourneyMan, JourneyDog and I (+ JourneyBabyBoy of course) went to see JourneyMan's sister and husband in country Victoria overnight which was lovely. She is also pregnant so it was fun to catch up. We missed all of the wild storms that hit our home town over the weekend - hail the size of golf balls, crazy, crazy weather so it was a relief to get home and find the house perfectly fine - yay.

And that is about all for this weekend. I have much blog reading to catch up on - will be back soon!

Starting the Blog Again

So, we are almost ready to start the relaunch of the blog and the Donor Eggs Journey podcast.  We have talked about it a lot.  The boys are ...
