This blog began as a quiet, anonymous space to work through the emotions of the biggest decisions of our lives — pursuing donor egg IVF in Thailand to build our family. It served as a space to make sense of trying to conceive, travelling abroad for treatment, and finally becoming parents. Now, years later, our story continues — not just in written form, but through The Donor Eggs Journey Podcast. We remain anonymous, out of love and respect for our children.

A New Year
Firstly, let me clear up my last post. No, I am not pregnant - as my friend Lifeslurper deduced, I was referring to Christmas 2009 when I found out that I was pregnant with the beautiful JBB.
We have been away camping for 10 days from 27 December (not down your way LS, we were on the Sapphire coast - absolutely gorgeous!!) so I haven't had access to update you on the latest Journey adventures. It was a rocky holiday. JourneyMan wasn't there for the first four days and as I had most of my family there with me, I thought I would be able to cope with camping and a four month old. Hmmm, that proved me wrong - it was hard, desperately hard and I felt like a total failure because I couldn't cope with it by myself.
JourneyMan ended up coming up a day earlier than originally planned because I begged him to and then it was a bit easier. It has been a strange couple of weeks. The absolute joy of Christmas was followed by the desperate disappointment of my inability to cope on our trip. JourneyMan and I were also squabbling and it took until two nights ago for us to sit down and to really talk out what has been going on, we are okay now but I found it a bit disturbing because we were having difficulty communicating with each other - misunderstandings were the order of the day.
On the very positive side of things, JBB is a darling. He is 4 and a half months old now and is more and more delightful every day. He is such a good baby. He has been sleeping through the night for a while now and is babbling (and squealing) all the time, I think he is going to be quite a chatterbox. He is learning at a rate of knotts - he can pull himself up to a standing position when he is holding our hands, he has learned how to grasp items on his own - he is an absolute treasure.
My New Year's resolutions for this year are:
1. To work on feeling deserving of all of the wonderful things that I have in my life
2. To be nicer to myself
3. To enjoy every moment with JBB and JourneyMan
4. To get back my fitness and lose weight again
It is not a nice realisation to discover that you are hideously mean to yourself - honestly, I wouldn't say some of the things that I say to myself to my worst enemy. I am going to continue on with the counselling to keep on learning and growing.
I am also going to get back to using this blog as an outlet for my feelings moreso than an update of our daily happenings - I hope that will be interesting and not to tedious for you all!!

Merry Christmas & over and out for 2011!
Could there be a better Christmas than discovering that you are pregnant? Yes, you can celebrate with your 4 month old son and wonderful husband. We had an amazing day yesterday. JBB woke us up at 6am and we gave him his presents (jumper and a little couch) - JourneyDog also scored a new stuffed toy and a chew toy to play with. I then gave JourneyMan his pressies and he gave me some. As a joke during the week I had said to JourneyMan:
'Have you gotten my pressies yet?'
He said:
'Yes, I have'
I asked jokingly:
'Will they make me weep for joy?'
He said:
'As a matter of fact, they will'
In my mind, I thought 'Yeah right'
It turns out that JourneyMan bought me a book from JBB and JourneyDog called 'Your my Mother' - it was the most beautiful present (apart from JBB of course) that JourneyMan has ever given me - I did indeed weep for joy. I can't tell you how special that moment was.
We then went over to my Mum and Dad's place to have pressie corner and my Mum gave me a book called 'When I was Born' which is absolutely beautiful and once again I was weeping tears of joy. I showed the book to JourneyMan and he also wept at the beauty of the book. JourneyMan is not a hugely emotional fellow - and to see him so moved by this book was a beautiful experience - it was wonderful to see how much he feels for our darling JBB.
We are off to the beach to camp for our holidays tomorrow. JourneyMan has to work so my sister is coming up in the car with JBB and I and JourneyMan will join us on New Year's eve. I am looking forward to the holiday. It is most likely going to be the last one that my Dad can make and the whole family is going to be there which should be nice.
It is with a contented sigh that I wave goodbye to 2010, the best year of my life. I hope that 2011 will be as amazing a year as this one has and I hope that it will be the year in which all of your dreams come true!
All the best!!

Happy New Year!!
- Tiredness - when on holidays, I used to stay up past midnight most nights, now I can barely make it to 10pm and that is after a Nanna nap in the arvo (that is afternoon for any non-Aussies!)
- Cramps - still feeling very crampy off and on
- Bloated - my stomach looks like I am already 5 months pregnant
- Sleeping - I am sleeping a lot heavier these days - I don't even wake up when JourneyMan comes to bed!
- Dizzy - I am getting alot of dizzy spells when I stand up from sitting down and then sometimes even when I am sitting down
- Morning sickness - I feel a bit sick if I get too hungry, no big deal, I just eat something and feel better though I am a bit freaked about how much weight I will put on over the next 8 months! I actually didn't know it was morning sickness until I was talking to my older sister (she of the 'My 3 Sons) and she asked how I was feeling and I said that I felt a bit crappy that day, like I had a hangover, then she told me it was morning sickness - der Fred, can I be anymore clueless!!
All in all, I am feeling pretty good, none of the symptoms are stopping me from doing anything and I am very much trying to rest and take care of myself as much as possible. That being said, after a week of pretty healthy meals, we had Macca's for tea tonight - whoops!
At the request of my good friend and blogging yoda, Lifeslurper - here is a pic of the fabulous Phantay - the elephant protagonist of the previous blogpost:
Chelle - I haven't forgotten your request to post a photo of our new dining table - it's just that, we only actually got it on Christmas day (my Mum is a big stickler for giving Christmas presents only on Christmas day, bless her!) and I haven't put it together yet - yes, we have to put it together - it is from Ikea! Yes, I have to do it because JourneyMan has a strict 'I don't put furniture together' policy whereas I don't mind it, I kind of find it soothing and quite rewarding!
Goodness, it is nearly my bedtime - Happy New Year all - I hope all of your dreams come true this year!
